The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at Stallings Court Nursing & Rehabilitation plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by safely administering medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. This position ensures that each resident receives the correct medication at the prescribed times, contributing directly to their health, comfort, and overall well-being. The CMA collaborates closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, promptly reporting concerns to ensure timely interventions. Ultimately, the CMA helps to enhance the quality of care provided within the facility, fostering a safe and supportive environment for all residents.
Current and valid Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification as required by state regulations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Previous experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility.
Additional certifications related to healthcare or medication administration.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Administer prescribed medications to residents accurately and timely, following the five rights of medication administration.
Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions and report any concerns to nursing staff immediately.
Maintain detailed and accurate medication records, including documentation of administration and any observed changes in resident condition.
Assist nursing staff with routine care tasks as needed, supporting overall resident health and comfort.
Ensure compliance with all facility policies, state regulations, and safety protocols related to medication handling and administration.
Communicate effectively with residents to explain medication procedures and provide reassurance.
Participate in ongoing training and competency evaluations to maintain certification and stay current with best practices.

The Certified Medication Aide utilizes strong attention to detail and organizational skills daily to ensure medications are administered safely and accurately, minimizing the risk of errors. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, explaining medication procedures, and collaborating with nursing staff to report observations and concerns. The role requires proficiency in documentation and record-keeping to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and support continuity of care. Problem-solving skills are applied when monitoring residents for side effects and determining when to escalate issues to nursing professionals. Additionally, adaptability and a compassionate approach are important to meet the diverse needs of residents in a dynamic healthcare environment.
