Basic Functions Drive a passenger van or equivalent vehicle to transport clients between locations following an established schedule and special trips by dispatch or prior arrangement. In lieu of transporting clients, perform office assistant functions.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus three to six months of related experience.
Valid Washington State driver’s license and eligibility for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.
1st aid/CPR card or ability to obtain within first 90 days of employment.
TB test with negative results or obtain within 15 days of employment.
HIPAA certification, HIV/AIDS certification within 90 days of hire, and ongoing maintenance.
Defensive Driving certification or ability to obtain within 90 days, with ongoing maintenance.
Basic knowledge of passenger van/vehicle operation and mechanical characteristics.
Understanding of tribal, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to vehicle operations and transportation of personnel.
Knowledge of verbal and written communication with various age groups.
Reading road maps and using a Global Positioning System (GPS).
Vehicle maintenance awareness.
Knowledge of long‑term care setting, resident abuse and neglect, patient rights, and case management filing systems.
Understanding of why CPR/first aid is critical in a transportation context.
Reading and writing skills to prepare logs and reports in established formats.
Human relations skills to maintain team harmony, patience, enthusiasm, and a positive image of the Colville Tribes.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with reservation lifestyles and culture.
Awareness of local demographics, community resources, disease profiles, and cultural norms.
Knowledge of Native American cultures as they relate to clientele served.
Defensive driving, minor vehicle repair, and radio communication skills.
Customer service, bedside manner, physical fitness, verbal communication, listening, documentation, decision‑making, patient services, health administration, health promotion, and maintenance skills.
Electronic Health Records knowledge or experience.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Follow oral and written instructions, recognize equipment malfunctions, keep vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition, maintain required records, and make independent decisions.
Work cooperatively with co‑workers, clients, and the general public.
Adapt to non‑standard work hours and adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements Function in a vehicle and outdoors in a moderately active setting.
Arm‑hand and leg‑foot dexterity for vehicle operation.
Visual acuity with depth perception to observe moving objects.
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Hearing sufficient to be aware of traffic, road distractions, and customers.
Assist passengers with limited mobility and lift ambulatory aids such as wheelchairs onto platforms.
Walk to project locations, stand for extended periods, and bend/stoop for limited durations.
Coordinate arm‑hand‑eye for computer keyboard and pointing devices.
Read technical documents and instructions clearly.
Lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to less than 50 lbs.
Follow administrative notifications for vehicle use beyond 100‑mile limitations.
Work non‑standard hours and drive in adverse weather conditions.
Additional Requirements Position may be subject to pre‑employment drug testing and reasonable suspicion or post‑accident drug testing.
Valid Washington State driver’s license and eligibility for Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance are mandatory.
Background clearance may be required; clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
