The Planning and Development Services Department provides opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth. The Watershed Management Division strives for first‑class service delivery and continued national recognition by making contributions that have broader impacts and implications beyond the County . The Watershed Management program is an integral part of the Division. As the Watershed Program Manager , you will have the opportunity to rapidly learn, lead and participate in projects that support the nationally recognized and award‑winning Watershed Management Division .

The Wake County Planning and Development Services Department consistently functions at a nationally recognized level. We are comprised of four Divisions consisting of Administration, Planning & Zoning, Building Permits & Inspections and Watershed Management. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field

Five years of experience in environmental health, environmental planning, inspections or engineering

Advanced degree in engineering, environmental science, law, geology, business, or related area

Organized, detail-oriented, with solid analytical, computer and problem‑solving skills

Excellent ability to clearly communicate technical information to non‑technical groups, both verbally and in writing

Excellent ability to identify performance measures and take action to improve and maintain high‑quality, competitive core services

Excellent ability to collaborate with stakeholders on projects both within and outside the organization

Excellent skills in completing work and projects involving multiple people and organizations

Advanced ability to help others understand and achieve organizational goals

Excellent knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards and satisfaction evaluation

Ability to lead a team of engineers and scientists with technical expertise in plan review, erosion and sedimentation control and stormwater management
