*** is a 232 bed, full service hospital. We are home to the Joint Replacement Academy. We offer the latest treatment options for knee and hip pain. We house an impressive neurosurgical program. This program offers services from elective spine surgeries to advanced and comprehensive brain and spine care. We are recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association as a Certified Primary Stroke Center. We handle patients with urgency. We are acknowledged by the American College of Cardiology as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCIa. All complaints are handled crucially. We are identified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for having a Pathway to Excellence Program. We dedicate resources to our employees. We have received the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award. This is awarded for implementing specific quality improvements. These measures were outlined by the American Heart Association. The improvements impact the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.
Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Emergency Services ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s) and department(s) in addition to forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director of Emergency Services fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facilityobjectives.

Major Responsibilities:
Quality

• Cultivates a superior clinical identity byidentifyingand implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensures adherence to standards of care.
• Manages variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost. Ensures a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
• Stays abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations and actively pursues efforts to achieve.
• Stays abreast of legal and regulatory standards and ensures compliance. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with all legal/regulatory standards.
• Ensures equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
• Ensures efficient patient throughput and delivery of high quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
• Develops care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency in care. Fosters interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within and across departments and ensures staff withappropriate clinicalcompetencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
• Directs nursing practice and unit operations. Develops policies, procedures, and nursing standards to ensure patient and family needs are assessed, met, and evaluated.

Finance

• Participatesin the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply and equipment needs. Monitors department budget performance;identifiestrends andevaluatesvariances in relation toestablishedbudget. Develops and implements actions to address performance gaps.
• Ensures effective labor management, including position control, scheduling excellence, productivity management, and premium payutilization. Maintains staffing to ensureappropriate patientcare.
• Managesoperatingexpenses, including theutilizationof supplies and equipment.Identifiescost reduction opportunities and implements actions to achieve savings.

Other

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or other approved education plan Required
• Bachelor's degree in nursing Required
• Master's Degree Preferred
• 1+ years of recent Director level Emergency Department experience Required facility may consider a very strong manager . Metrics/accomplishments should appear on resume. Will not consider Charge or Supervisor experience
• 3+ years of recent Emergency Department experience Required
