Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the buyer position will purchase materials, supplies, parts, or components.

Purchases materials, supplies, parts or components

Coordinates purchase requirements with operating departments

May Expedite the delivery of critical equipment and/or material

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for organization by performing the following duties:

Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule

May select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid

Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality, or performance

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

May expedite delivery of goods

Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
