Job Description Director of Finance

Compensation : $175K - $200K + Bonus

Our client, a well-established financial services company based in Irvine, CA, is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their leadership team. This is a hybrid role offering the opportunity to lead financial planning, reporting, and strategic initiatives for a growing organization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting/finance skills combined with the ability to partner cross-functionally and influence business decisions at the leadership level.
Lead the financial planning & analysis (FP&A) function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and ensure accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making
Manage and mentor a team of finance/accounting professionals, fostering growth and development
Develop and monitor key financial metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to track business performance
Drive process improvements and enhance financial systems, controls, and reporting infrastructure
Support annual audit processes and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
Prepare financial presentations and reporting packages for executive leadership and/or board-level review
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Accounting, Risk, IT) to align financial strategy with business objectives
Assist with special projects, including system implementations, M&A analysis, or capital planning as needed
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including prior management experience
Industry experience in banking, mortgage, or financial services required
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP and financial planning systems
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred

Experience in banking, mortgage, or financial services industries preferred
Familiarity with financial systems implementations or process automation initiatives
Schedule: Hybrid (in-office and remote days combined)
