Technology Education Teacher - Middle School

Job Title: Teacher, Technology Education - Thomas W. Pyle Middle School (FY27) - 1.0 FTE

Wage Range: $64,591 to $131,472 (salary based on education and experience)

Summary Description: Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Working with interdisciplinary teams, fosters a school culture that supports intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school‑related settings and communicates and collaborates with students, staff, parents, and community. Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical demands: as required by duties. Special requirements: required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies; commitment to high content and high expectations for all learners; ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies and integrate reading, writing, math, and technology throughout content areas; ability to self‑reflect for continuous improvement; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school staff, students, parents, and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills; commitment to serving as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diversity; knowledge and application of MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System and Supporting Services Professional Growth System.

Education, Training & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners; meets Maryland state certification requirements in an appropriate field of education.
