RN - Emergency: Day Shift (Full Time)

Under the supervision of the supervising cardiologist and in collaboration with the nuclear medicine technologist, this role evaluates patients referred for cardiac stress testing in accordance with established guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing patient's medical histories and performing focused cardiovascular assessments prior to testing. The position administers exercise and pharmacologic stress tests with nuclear medicine, and exercise treadmill stress tests. Additionally, the role provides initial patient management in the event of arrhythmia or other adverse events that may occur during stress testing.
Reviews the patient's medical record, including history, medications, and relevant labs.
Performs focused cardiovascular assessments prior to noninvasive testing.
Identifies potential risks or contraindications and communicates findings to the supervising cardiologist
Imaging and Stress Testing Support:
Provides nursing care before, during and after noninvasive cardiology procedure.
Supports exercise and pharmacologic stress testing.
Ensures emergency equipment is working, available and is in the testing area.
Manage medications and medical supplies.
Stress Testing Responsibilities:
Evaluates patients per stress testing guidelines.
Monitors patients during recovery and documents findings.
Administers medications according to noninvasive cardiology protocols.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of assessments, procedures and medications in EPIC electronic health system.

Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduates preferred.

Licensure : - current licensure as a Registered nurse in state of Connecticut
Minimum two years of clinical experience preferred in cardiology, emergency, critical care or outpatient diagnostic imaging. Day Shift / Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm
