Position Title: School Nurse

Reports to: Director of Special Education

FSLA: Exempt

Summary of the position: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each corporation student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the school.

Qualifications: A current license of Nursing in the State of Indiana. Must hold a Bachelor's degree in nursing and have an RN degree.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Assess, identify, and monitor the physical, emotional, and social needs of students and school personnel.
• Assist students and school personnel who become ill or are injured at school.
• Provide health counseling and follow-up to students, their families, and school personnel.
• Assist teachers in adapting the school program to meet the individual needs of all students.
• Schedule and conduct vision and scoliosis screening tests and assist with hearing screening.
• Implement operational procedures for dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications in the school in accordance with Corporation's medication

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
