Paramedic Nights - Emergency

Position Summary
The Paramedic provides advanced prehospital emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with established protocols and medical direction. This role is responsible for patient assessment, advanced treatment, and clinical decision-making in high-pressure environments, while ensuring safe operations and high-quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver advanced life support (ALS) interventions
- Administer medications and perform advanced procedures in accordance with protocols
- Lead patient care decisions and direct on-scene clinical care
- Provide patient packaging, transport, and ongoing monitoring
- Complete accurate and timely patient care reports and required documentation
- Ensure documentation meets clinical, legal, and billing standards
- Ensure ambulance and equipment are clean, stocked, and response-ready
- Maintain proficiency in all ALS equipment and report deficiencies
- Adhere to all SOPs, REMSA guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain all required certifications and licensure
- Follow infection control, PPE, and safety protocols
- Serve as a clinical leader and role model for EMT partners
- Communicate effectively with hospitals, dispatch, and other responders
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct
- Participate in CME and ongoing clinical education
- Maintain and update required certifications (ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, etc.)
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- National Registry EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) required
- Current State licensure
- Current driver’s license meeting company requirements
* Current certifications:
* BLS (Healthcare Provider)
* ACLS
- PALS or EPC
- PHTLS (or obtained within required timeframe if applicable)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or related field
- Previous ALS or high-volume EMS experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull patients and equipment (140-200 lbs with assistance)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to work in confined spaces and moving vehicles
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal communication, radio traffic, and alarms
- Ability to perform sustained physical activity during extended patient care situations
- Ability to perform advanced medical procedures requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to coordinate complex physical and cognitive tasks simultaneously in high-stress environments
Working Environment
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and hazards. This role includes exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and infectious materials, requiring strict adherence to PPE and safety protocols. Work is performed in dynamic, high-stress, and physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and moving vehicles.
