Genetics Counselor Assistant

Job Summary: The genetic counseling assistant (GCA) will help facilitate genetic evaluation, testing and coordination of care of genetic patients under the supervision of the genetic counselor and medical geneticist. Duties may include triaging referrals, obtaining medical records and previous test results prior to patient visits, performing patient intakes, coordination of scheduling patients, sample collection and send out for genetic testing, completion of genetic testing order forms, and tracking the status of test results. The GCA will assist with documentation in the electronic health record, coordinating follow up, answering phone calls, and maintaining the genetics database.

Education: Required: At least 2 years of college coursework in biology/health science Preferred: Bachelor's degree in biology/health science

Experience: Required: None Preferred: 1-2 years in genetics specialty clinic
