Plumber / Plumbing Contractor - Urgent Need

Plumbing Maintenance TechnicianACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.Responsible for maintenance, repair, installation and upkeep of all plumbing systems and related appliances.Basic Responsibilities:Work as directed by immediate supervisor, Assistant director of MEP or Director of M.E.P.Work on all facility plumbing systems; not limited to water systems, sewage systems, gas systems and irrigation systems.Perform tasks assigned as part of remodeling and construction work.Plan, coordinate, develop preventative maintenance programs, and supervise other plumbing employees.Assist other trades as needed in the spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Cross train to enhance skills.Essential duties:Follow established rules, policies and procedures of Facilities Management and the University.Order materials and supplies as needed for completion of work assigned.Maintain plumbing budget within approved limits.Fill out work orders and written reports daily.Display initiative to work alone or in groups. Work with and supervise other plumbing and student employees.Be on call 24 hours a day.Coordination of special projects with outside plumbing contractors.Respond quickly to emergencies.Install sewer, gas, water and other systems according to National, State, and Local plumbing codes.Perform preventative maintenance on hot water heater (not classified as boilers; and other critical plumbing systems.Inspect fire sprinkler systems as required by law and assure operation.Repair faucets, showerheads, drains, pipes, and valves.Repair/replace parts as needed in drain fixture units, kitchen equipment, circulating pumps and mechanical systems.Maintain adequate parts inventory and evaluate available plumbing products and hardware standardize where applicable to achieve economy.Develop estimate of costs for plumbing services as required by remodeling/special projects.Formulate specifications to be used in preparation of bids for acquiring services, contracts, and items purchased.Professional Development Requirements:Skills RequiredKnowledge of hand and power toolsSkilled in all areas of plumbing, mechanical and constructionOperate a pipe threader, sewer machine and other associated equipmentExcellent written and oral communication and customer relationsUse of computer and technologyKnowledgeable in reading plans and specificationsTraining ModulesContinuing education in plumbingCustomer ServiceBasic computer trainingSafety trainingQualifications:ProfessionalHigh School diploma or GEDPersonalClean and neat in appearanceLikes to workPunctual, positive attitude, dependableHonest, responsible, trustworthyGood moral characterMust be able to read and speak EnglishPhysical Demands:Must be able to work in a stressful environmentBe able to do manual laborGood health and stamina to lift, carry, and pull loads in excess of fifty poundsMust be able to climb ladder and work in varying climate conditionsACU does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, disability, genetic information, national or ethnic origin in employment opportunities, in keeping with applicable state and federal law.ACU is committed to maintaining a safe and secure campus environment and protecting the university's financial and physical assets.
