Nuclear HVAC Engineer

Altrincham/Manchester 3 days per week

HVAC Engineer’s required to support our client, a large engineering consultancy, on a range of Nuclear projects.

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Due to new project wins and continued growth, we’re looking for Senior Nuclear HVAC Engineers to join our Power, Process & Nuclear division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects across the defence and nuclear new‑build industries. Producing documentation, assessment/condition reports, survey reports, basis of designs, procurement specifications, etc.

Production and review of detailed design calculations to support design proposals

Production and review of detailed design drawings, layouts and schematics including heating, ventilation, LTHW, Chilled Water, specialist LEV and BMS installations

functional Specifications, Basis of Design, Equipment Specifications and Validation and Verification plans.

Producing estimates of work elements including equipment and man hour costs

Ensure compliance with construction (design and management) regulations

Degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Experience within a highly regulated environment (Nuclear preferable, but will consider Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical and Rail experience)

Preferably knowledge & experience in nuclear containment ventilation design

Broad knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and engineering principles, ideally including knowledge of nuclear ventilation guidelines and standards

Experience of using design software such as Hevacomp, IES, Pipenet

Revit and AutoCAD knowledge and experience will be beneficial

In‑depth knowledge of current Building Regulations and relevant Legislation
