Head of Finance, Payroll & Operations

Ignatius Loyola Academy seeks a mission-driven, dynamic and enthusiastic team player as our next Director of Finance & Operations. This full-time faculty position is a twelve-month, salaried, exempt employment position with occasional evening responsibilities. The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative operations of the organization including budget management, financial reporting, monitoring cash flow, developing and maintaining best practices and internal controls for company finances and operations, human resources functions, facilities management, and computer and technical systems management.
The Director of Finance and Operations reports to the President.
In collaboration with the president and members of the administration, oversee financial operations including execution of financial strategies and processes including annual operating budget, and annual audits.
Serve on the All-Share Group guiding management and oversight for school operations, policy development and implementation.
Coordinate financial functions, including banking, investments concerning management of cash flow and investment strategies, and preparation of financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Manage contract commitments and expenditures to ensure consistency with budgeting.
Manage and maintain employee policies and procedures handbook.
Oversee payroll and employee benefits, including accrued vacation , health plan, insurance, retirement funding, and other benefits as appropriate.
Oversee all human resources functions, food service, buildings and grounds, and information technology at the Academy.
Assist in onboarding new faculty, staff and contractors as appropriate.
Provide support to the President for overall operations.
Provide support to the organization’s Board of Trustees, including support to the Finance Committee and the Committee Chair, as well as support for full board and committee meetings.
Manage the Academy’s accounting procedures.
Oversee management and maintenance of office space, equipment, computer technology, inventory and supplies.
Ensure the Academy’s compliance with all required agencies, groups and required inspections..
Supervise finance and operations staff, including full-time, part-time and contract staff.
Semi-Finalists: will be introduced to board representatives via Zoom, including the Chair of the Board and the Finance Committee Chair.
Ignatius Loyola Academy or via Zoom, meeting with the search team, which will include the president, finance staff, administration team peers, and other representatives from the school.
The successful candidate is committed to Jesuit/Catholic education and will be able to demonstrate that he or she has a proven track record of integrity, flexibility, collaboration, and transparency in the workplace. He or she should have a customer service orientation, be a creative problem solver, and be able to make effective presentations.
At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting, or a related field.
At least three years of experience in a financial leadership role.
Demonstrated ability to independently record, audit, and enter financial transactions.
Management experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and effectively handling multiple priorities and projects
Excellent communication skills, both internal to the organization and with external partners, in writing and verbally
Demonstrated ability to work independently, keep organized in a fast-paced environment, manage simultaneous tasks, and adjust strategy to changing demands
Strong understanding of accounting and office operations and procedures, including human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, contract management, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and laws related to nonprofit corporations
Demonstrated ability to work with financial management, budgeting, and administrative systems, annual audits, and other nonprofit financial processes and requirements
Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse school community and Board of Trustees
Center principles of Catholic social justice, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development and organizational practices and processes
Demonstrated commitment to diversity within the office and using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences regarding race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and socio-economic circumstance
Proficiency in excel and google spreadsheets, experience in non-profit general ledger software necessary, Blackbaud NXT experience is a plus.
