Facility:

This major medical center operates as a Level I Trauma Center and features a comprehensive 47-bed neonatal intensive care unit with 33 licensed NICU beds, 12 Special Care Nursery beds, and 2 bassinets. The facility is part of a prestigious university health system that provides advanced neonatal care with full support staff including nurse practitioners, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and child life specialists.

Physician - Neonatology

Job Details:

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care in Level III NICU and Special Care Nursery setting
  • Coverage dates from July 1, 2026 through July 1, 2027 due to short staffing
  • Day shift: 10 hours; Night shift: 14-hour home call with 30-minute response time requirement
  • Manage average daily census of 31 patients with approximately 3 admissions per day
  • Call ratio 1:4 with variable schedule due to current staffing challenges
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and cesarean sections
  • Provide advanced ventilation management including BiPAP/CPAP, oscillator ventilator support, and Nitric Oxide (iNO)
  • Perform critical neonatal procedures: chest tube insertion, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, PA catheter insertion
  • Execute umbilical catheterization procedures (UVC/UAC) and PICC placement
  • Manage emergency situations and participate in neonatal resuscitation
  • Potentially supervise Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
  • Document patient care using EPIC EMR system in open bay setting
  • Board certification in Neonatology and fellowship training required
  • Active full Michigan medical license and NALS certification required
  • Self-Query NPDB required within one month of presentation
  • Credentialing timeframe approximately 120+ days
  • Hotel, mileage, and flight reimbursement provided
