The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is looking for a high-energy, culturally competent, and driven Admissions Counselor to join our Enrollment Management powerhouse. In this role, you won't just recruit students—you will be the face of UMF, guiding first-year, transfer, adult, and graduate learners (and their families) through one of the most exciting milestones of their lives!
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the anticipated annual salary for this position is $45,300.32 plus an employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents.
As an Admissions Counselor, your primary mission is to spark interest, build meaningful relationships, and champion access to education. Be the Ultimate Guide: Educate prospective students, parents, and school counselors about UMF's incredible academic programs and vibrant community.
Champion Diversity: Shape the Future Class: Review applications and conduct detailed evaluations to help select the next generation of UMF students.
Bring the Energy to Campus: Play a starring role in creating unforgettable experiences during high-energy on-campus events like Open Houses and Accepted Student Days.
Counselor of the Day: Step into the spotlight during our staff rotation to welcome daily campus visitors and answer their burning questions.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
A genuine enthusiasm and ability to travel extensively, including flexibility for evening and weekend events.
Superb Communication: Rock-solid public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills.
A quick learner who is completely at ease adapting to modern software and university tech platforms.
Bonus points if you have (Preferred Extras)
One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in admissions, higher education, or a closely related professional field.
A proven track record of connecting well with high school or college-bound students and their families.
Digital savvy and a knack for leveraging social media platforms to engage an audience.
