Health Care Nurse

Overview This Registered Nurse (RN) - Level I position is responsible for providing nursing care through the nursing process, applying competent clinical knowledge, skills, and independent judgment to achieve quality patient care outcomes.
Core Duties and Responsibilities Modify patient plans of care based on data collection and individual needs.
Use Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to provide patient care.
Delegate tasks according to scope of practice.
Verify plans of care with interprofessional colleagues, patients, and caregivers.
Provide education based on learning needs and family involvement.
Promote effective communication among interprofessional team members and healthcare consumers.
Influence policy to promote safe patient care.
Utilize appropriate resources, especially in sensitive situations.
Incorporate processes to enhance organizational growth and influence.
Participate in developing strategies to promote healthy communities and practice environments.
Recognize strategies to improve nursing quality.
Provide critical review and evaluation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve quality of healthcare.
Demonstrate understanding of importance of data collection and utilization.
Disseminate educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
Engage in activities related to nurse-sensitive indicators to enhance quality of care.
Participate in continuing professional development.
Identify ethical situations and seek assistance of appropriate colleagues.
Maintain and improve the ethical environment of the work setting to ensure safe, quality care.
Adhere to moral and legal rights of patients.
Engage in opportunities for work/life balance.
Specialty Accreditation Requirements Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards.
Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, in‑services, and competency validation.
Physical Requirements Minimize manual patient lift to 35 pounds; use lift equipment or patient‑handling aids as indicated.
Require strength and stamina for lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
Visual acuity must be within normal range.
Hearing within normal range is required (e.g., to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors).
Working Environment Work protracted or irregular hours.
Work around biohazards.
Work around infectious diseases.
Work with or near the deceased.
Work with hands in water.
Work with electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
Skills and Abilities Possess interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict positively.
Use competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to efficiently deliver patient care while maximizing resource use.
Be flexible in response to changes in work volume, staffing, and scheduling.
Work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and assignments.
Minimum Qualifications Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi‑state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
One (1) year of registered nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN).
