Barback - Night Shift

ALIBI ROOM is a long time Venice, Mar Vista, Culver City westside locals neighborhood watering hole and everyone's favorite outstanding KOGI Chef Roy Choi!!

We are looking for a reliable, energetic Barback and Food Runner with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in the bar industry. We are looking for one person to work both shifts: one night food running, one night barbacking plus pickup shifts when available. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates the bartending team's needs, and takes pride in keeping the bar running consistently from the beginning to the end of the shift. Tuesday & Wednesday plus fill in shifts. 5pm - 11pm FOOD RUNNER Key Responsibilities:

Expediting experience is a plus

Deliver food to guests with accuracy, speed, and friendly presentation

Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow

Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, expo areas, and the bar/patio areas

BARBACK Key Responsibilities:

Restock and replenish bar supplies including liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, garnishes, and juices throughout service

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including wiping down surfaces, clearing glassware, and emptying trash

Assist bartenders during high-volume service by preparing garnishes, juicing citrus, and organizing

Ensure glassware is clean, polished, and available at all times

Change kegs, restock coolers, and ensure all equipment is functioning properly

Support bartenders with prep, breakdown, and daily operational needs

Maintain awareness of guests' needs and communicate relevant information to bartenders

Assist with clearing tables, resetting sections, and maintaining overall floor readiness

Adhere to all health, sanitation and safety standards

Skills and Qualities:

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment

A guest‑first mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to hospitality

Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain composure during peak service

Familiarity with bar tools, glassware, and equipment

Basic knowledge of spirits, beer, and wine

Physical stamina for prolonged standing, lifting, and moving quickly

Ability to lift and carry kegs and cases (up to 40 lbs)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Anticipates the needs of bartenders and guests proactively

Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude

Interest in learning about spirits, wine, craft beer and craft cocktail culture

Requirements:

Minimum 2+ years of barback or bar support experience in upscale, high-volume establishments

Must be at least 21 years of age

Strong work ethic and ability to remain calm under pressure

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Flexible availability, including weekends and late nights

Certification in responsible food & alcohol service (e.g., RBS & ServSafe)
