Mental Health LCSW

Beacon Behavioral Health is one of the largest and most established behavioral health programs in Louisiana, offering inpatient psychiatric care for adults and seniors with acute mental health needs. It also operates a Hospital-Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) with seven locations throughout Louisiana, providing comprehensive and confidential care for adults and seniors aged 18 and older.

The role focuses on providing social service and therapeutic support to patients aged 18 and older who suffer from mental illness. Responsibilities include counseling, discharge planning, resource coordination, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive psychosocial care.

Provide social service support for patients aged 18 and older with mental illness.

Deliver clinical individual, group, and family therapy as ordered by the physician.

Assess and reassess social and emotional factors to assist patients and families in coping and following medical recommendations.

Counsel patients, families, and primary caregivers regarding the medical treatment plan and discharge plan.

Identify and utilize community and family resources to support patients’ long‑term plans.

Develop and maintain patients’ care plans within required time frames and coordinate with the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Initiate discharge planning upon admission and continue through the process.

Maintain a comprehensive resource database for discharge planning and provide information to hospital personnel as needed.

Prepare accurate and timely patient care progress records in accordance with hospital policies.

Stay informed about social work trends and complete required annual continuing education.

Participate in the hospital’s QAPI program and weekly treatment team meetings.

Act as a community liaison when needed and adhere to hospital infection control and safety policies.

Experience in providing and managing social service needs for the mentally ill, including family, group, and individual psychotherapy with adults and/or geriatric patients.

Experience with discharge planning and case management of inpatient psychiatric patients.

Must be licensed and/or certified to perform psychotherapy and/or counseling within the state of operation, and maintain current professional licensure with annual proof to Human Resources.
