The position is part of the In-House Construction crew in Facilities and Property Management (FPM). The experience must include form building; rough framing; care and use of tools and woodworking machinery; and application of safety standards and codes; OR Completion of an apprenticeship (four years) under a skilled carpenter which included experience as listed above.Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position - 2 years experience working as a journeyman level carpenter. High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications - 5 years experience working at a journeyman carpenter level, in commercial construction or in a school or institutional environment. Various equipment operation certification or licenses. HAZMAT training. Portland State has an excellent benefits package including 95% employer-paid health insurance premiums (employees and eligible dependents) and significantly reduced tuition rates for employees and eligible dependents at any of the Oregon Public Universities. After completing six full months employees are eligible to the employer-paid pension program in addition to two voluntary retirement programs.
