Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to join the Inpatient Pharmacy team!
24/7 inpatient pharmacy providing care to admitted pediatric patients.

• The pediatric PRN Staff Pharmacist is responsible for verifying medication orders, preparing and dispensing sterile and non-sterile pediatric products, and optimizing pharmacotherapy through medication reconciliation and clinical decision support across inpatient areas.
• This role requires active collaboration with pharmacy, nursing, and medical teams, participation in code/trauma response, and strong communication skills to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• PRN Pharmacists must sign up for at least two shifts per month, one weekend shift every 12 weeks and for one holiday shift per year.

Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy.
Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Advanced): Demonstrates expertise and advanced knowledge of process improvement, and quality assurance techniques. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement and maintains compliance with a federal, state and local regulations as well as VUMC policies and procedures. Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Novice): Has demonstrated a proficient understanding of computers or has successfully completed training for applications that are used to support medication use processes. Is capable of using the fundamental features of pharmaceutical computer applications to support patient care issues of moderate difficulty.
Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation & Dispensing (Novice): This includes being proficient in the general principles of aseptic technique utilized to compound sterile preparations (CSPs) to minimize the risk of contamination (where applicable).
Demonstrates proficiency in medication management in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully conducting Medication Management without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to monitor for therapeutic duplication or other unnecessary medications, interpret, monitor and assessing patient's laboratory results as they relate to medication therapy and provide drug information to other healthcare professionals, patients and their families.
