Custodian II

Buildings & General Service (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting and unique opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II within the Operations & Management Division. The position will also work as part of a larger team that performs these duties at other state facilities within the greater Bennington Area. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, general cleaning duties, care of floors, use and upkeep of floorcare equipment, and management of custodial supplies. This is a full-time position and the hours are Monday through Friday 3:00PM to 11:30PM. BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their mission. As part of the Operations and Maintenance Division you will be an essential team member and part of the largest division in BGS. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $1000! Only new hires employed by BGS as a BGS Custodian II in the location specified in this job posting are eligible for this bonus program. Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Overtime and evening work may be required. One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction. OR One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.
