We are seeking a board certified or board eligible General Surgeon for a short-term locum tenens opportunity in Dothan, Alabama. This assignment offers the flexibility of locum tenens physician work and the chance to support a fast-paced surgical team serving patients who need urgent and inpatient general surgery coverage.

Position: General Surgery Physician – Locum Tenens

Hospital-based inpatient consults and emergency room coverage

Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,960 to $7,060

Facility Context: Busy 200-bed hospital with approximately 20 patient encounters per shift

Credentialing Timeframe: Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery

Active physician license and eligibility to practice in the state of Alabama

At least 1 year of general surgery experience required

Experience with inpatient consults, emergency room coverage, and rounding on consults

Comfort performing a broad range of general surgery procedures

Fellowship training preferred

Provide general surgery coverage for inpatient consults and emergency room needs

Round on inpatient consults and manage surgical patient care as needed

Perform required general surgery procedures, including laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty

Deliver high-quality care in a Level III trauma setting

Collaborate with the care team to ensure efficient, responsive surgical support throughout the coverage period
