Substation Engineering

We're seeking a Substation Engineer to lead substation design projects while gaining experience in technical engineering, project management, and client collaboration. This role is hybrid out of our Madison, WI office, with relocation assistance available. We're also open to candidates in surrounding states who can travel to Madison monthly. Support and lead substation engineering projects, including brownfield design, physical design, and protection & control systems.

Develop engineering designs and drawings, including one-line/three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and AC/DC schematics.

Provide technical consulting services across substation design, system support, and utility operations.

Manage projects from design through construction, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.

Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Conduct site visits for inspections, construction oversight, and quality assurance.

Support construction activities, including installation coordination, testing, and commissioning of electrical facilities.

Perform technical reviews and quality control to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)

• 5+ years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering
• Strong knowledge of substation design, protection & control systems, and utility operations

Experience in engineering and design of electrical substations.

Experience in power system protection, design, and operations.

Working knowledge of computer software including AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, MS Excel, and MS Word is required.
