Worker Type: Regular. Department: Endocrinology. Schedule: Day shift 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. based on department needs. Location: 1821 S. Stoughton Rd, Madison, WI 53716. Previous experience working with patients with diabetes is a plus. This role may have the option to work from home 1 day per week following orientation and once metrics are maintained.

Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Job Responsibilities Implements and monitors patient care plans.

Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.

Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.

Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

May round with physician in an inpatient setting.

Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring care is delivered based on patient’s age‑specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.

Demonstrates professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.

Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide response to current and evolving health and nursing needs of patients and patient populations.

Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or educational equivalency for licensing.

Experience: No experience required.

Physical Requirements Constant use of speech to share information; constant standing and walking; frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25lbs.; frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry; frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20in. or less) and far (20ft. or more) and to identify and distinguish colors; frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors; frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.; occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50lbs.; occasional lifting/moving of patients; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements; occasional driving; rare crawling and running.

Licensure & Certifications Illinois – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLSHCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Missouri – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLSHCP) – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.

Oklahoma – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLSHCP) – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.

Wisconsin – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLSHCP) – AHA and Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.
