Job Description Specimen Accessioners ensures the accurate intake, processing, and management of DNA testing cases, maintaining compliance with chain-of-custody requirements and client expectations. Specimen Accessioners are responsible for opening samples, comparing information, addressing concerns, solving problems, and entering client data correctly into the Laboratory Information System to ensure that every case is successfully completed. Specimen Accessioners must have excellent data entry skills, be detail oriented, and organized. Accurately input and audit patient and contract information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Prepare and send final reports, chain-of-custody documents, and affidavits in a timely manner.

Input partial billing information

Notarize case documents as required (limited).

Collaborate with internal departments, including Laboratory Operations and Customer Service, to facilitate case resolution.

Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies and procedures.

Flex to support DNA kit assembly and shipping duties, as needed

Qualifications One (1) to two (2) years previous data entry experience preferred

High School diploma/GED required

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and typing skills are required

Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision; Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing priorities

Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling to accomplish tasks and transport samples from accessioning area to Laboratory.
