Jailer I - Full Time

Step into a leadership role as a Corrections Officer 3 with the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette, where your efforts support safety and order throughout the institution. In this position, you will serve as a Lieutenant, performing administrative and supervisory duties that support the care, custody, and control of inmates. You help maintain order, structure, and professionalism throughout the institution.

As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:

Staff Supervision: Assign tasks to officers and monitor their performance

Facility Oversight: Inspect work areas and housing units to ensure alertness and compliance of officers

Oversee schedules and ensure major activities receive proper supervision

Policy Enforcement: Investigate staff violations and participate in disciplinary actions

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.

This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) available after 6 months of employment.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
