Cytotechnologist (Pathology Lab)

**About the Role** The role of the Cytotechnologist is to perform complex technical tasks involved in the preparation and screening of cytology slides for evidence of cancer or other pathologic conditions. **What You’ll Be Doing** **Clerical Duties** Receive specimens and assign accession numbers to specimens received in the accession log book. Gives a gross description to each specimen received.**Specific Cytology Duties**Maintains and ensures the laboratory is CLIA compliant and oversees the daily operation of CLIA requirements for the Pathology laboratory.Performs other duties as assigned. **Non-specific Cytology Duties**Education must meet CLIA standards and encompass training in an approved cytotechnology program and successful certification (ASCP or equivalent). At least one year of experience is preferred. **Reasoning Ability** Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Computer Skills** To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment.
