CNA - Medical Care

Lowcountry Oncology Associates is a community-based oncology practice looking for a Certified Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities Obtains missing medical records, lab, pathology, and x‑ray reports from previous visits before the next physician visit.
Escorts patients to the physician exam area and ensures pre‑exam labs and x‑rays are obtained according to protocol.
Obtains vital signs and weight, records height on initial visit and subsequently as needed, and assists with maintaining vaccination and medication records.
Assists with renewing prescriptions and verifies necessary information in the medical record.
Prepares patients for exam based on clinical condition, tracks patients from entry to the next point of service, and coordinates/schedules appointments while relaying necessary messages to staff.
Schedules tests, shots, and appointments as requested, ensuring confirmation and proper physician schedule updates.
Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing, charts records for communication, and completes billing events before the end of shift accurately and timely.
Administers shots to patients in the exam room under the direction of a nurse or physician, ensuring the provider has assessed the patient and given direct instruction prior to administration.
Performs data entry of labs after physician review and completes level‑I or II documentation as required.
Assists the lab in obtaining blood from patients using venipuncture or fingerstick technique, tests specimens for hematology and urinalysis, and processes all laboratory specimens while complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
Completes daily checklists/OSHA checklists and additional responsibilities to support the practice’s mission.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of medical experience. Certified Medical Assistant, or completion of certification by July 2026.
Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty, including specific assistance tasks related to the specialty.
Familiarity with information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
