We operate in a collaborative environment with a flat organizational structure and expect a high degree of integrity, autonomy and creativity from all members of the team.About the RoleAs Field Service Engineer at Lightship, you will play a critical role in supporting our groundbreaking all-electric RV trailer fleet. Reporting to the Director of Service within our Operations organization, you'll serve as the primary technical resource for our customers while helping to build our service infrastructure from the ground up. This role combines hands-on technical problem solving with strategic service development in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary technical support resource for our customer fleet, diagnosing and resolving complex issues with our all-electric RV systemsTravel to provide on-site customer support across various US locationsDevelop and document service procedures, troubleshooting guides, and repair protocols for electric drivetrain, battery systems, and RV componentsCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify and implement product improvements based on field experienceBuild and maintain relationships with customers, providing exceptional technical support and collecting valuable feedback to share within the organizationCreate a knowledge base of common issues and solutions to support scalable customer serviceAnalyze service data to identify trends and recommend preventive measuresAssist in establishing service center requirements and dealer service capabilitiesContribute to the development of remote diagnostic tools and proceduresMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience3+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably with electric vehicles, RVs, or complex electromechanical systemsHands-on experience with electromechanical test equipment and toolsExcellent problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, multidisciplinary issues with little or no oversightStrong communication and documentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and issues to a wide audience from engineering leaders to customers and non-technical staffWillingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 70-80%) for the first 6-12 months, with ongoing travel requirements thereafter.
