ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY I

Summary
The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Southern District of Florida (SDFL) is seeking experienced attorneys to serve as Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Criminal, National Security, Civil, Appellate, and Asset Forfeiture Divisions. These positions are located in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Fort Pierce, Florida. Duties

Criminal Division - Investigates and prosecutes federal crimes across South Florida, including narcotics, violent crimes, economic crimes, border enforcement, corruption, and civil rights violations.

National Security Division - Oversees prosecutions involving terrorism, espionage, foreign malign influence, export control, and other national‑security matters.

Appellate Division - Represents the USAO in the Eleventh Circuit, prepares briefs, and participates in oral arguments on civil and criminal appeals.

Asset Forfeiture Division - Enforces criminal and civil asset‑forfeiture laws, conducts investigations, and manages the disposition of forfeited assets.

Civil Division - Handles affirmative civil enforcement, immigration litigation, civil‑rights cases, defensive civil litigation, bankruptcy, and civil‑financial recovery.

Requirements

United States citizenship.

J.D. degree and current membership in any U.S. jurisdiction’s bar.

Residence in the Southern District of Florida or within 25 miles of the district.

Successful completion of preemployment adjudication (fingerprint, credit, tax, drug testing) and ongoing background review.

Registration with the Selective Service, if applicable.

Salary Information
Pay ranges from $120,086.00 to $195,100.00, including 24.67% locality pay, and is determined by professional experience.

Relocation Expenses
Authorized relocation expenses up to $15,000 may be approved.
