Job Summary

Rutgers University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility located in Clinton, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.

Responsibilities

Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmate-patient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) within the framework established by the correctional system.

Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.

Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate-patients.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

License to practice in the State of New Jersey

CPR Certification required

Valid Driver's License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting

Employment Type: Part Time (20 hours per week; 40 standard hours). Shift: Evening. Work Arrangement: Full onsite. Location: Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ.
