Nurse (Health Care)

Role Overview

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) CAP 1 provides clinically competent care for hemodialysis patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. They collaborate with the healthcare team, delegate tasks, and participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Perform patient data collection and adjust treatments accordingly.

Educate patients and families about their care options.

Administer medications and respond to emergencies.

Ensure proper laboratory procedures and update care plans collaboratively.

Serve as a resource, participate in staff training, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Supervise and oversee other care staff after meeting experience and training requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Graduate of an accredited Nursing School with current state licensure.

CPR/BLS certified.

Entry-level RN with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience; chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred.

Strong communication, assessment, and teamwork skills.

Physical & Work Environment

Involves patient lifting, prolonged standing, equipment handling, and exposure to infectious materials in a healthcare setting. Physical assistance and accommodations are available if needed.
