Experience: Minimum of 2 years labor and delivery RN experience; 1 year OB surgical tech experience

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR)

Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and Labor & Delivery skills, IV insertion and care, central line management, care coordination with interdisciplinary team

We are seeking a Labor and Delivery/Postpartum RN. The facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation. It is a teaching hospital that provides a range of services including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Labor and Delivery unit consists of 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage areas, and 27 postpartum beds. Nurse patient ratios will follow AWHONN guidelines. The unit supports 2-14 labor and delivery patients. Surgical techs will be available for assistance. The RN will assist with laboring patients, antepartum patients, and will work in triage, PACU, and OR environments. Required skills include the ability to scrub surgeries and c-sections and set up tables for vaginal deliveries. The RN will be responsible for strong collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. There will be support from OB surgical techs and certified nursing assistants on each shift. Duties include assisting with vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, and performing hourly rounding. The unit has 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist services, and intensivist coverage. Monitoring of patients is conducted via bedside and nursing station telemetry and fetal monitoring technology. The facility uses an electronic medical record system. Shifts are scheduled with a weekend rotation requiring 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 in a six-week schedule. The RN will be expected to work one shift of each major holiday. The unit culture is characterized by a busy environment where teamwork is essential.
