Job Summary
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Step Down Registered Nurse to independently perform direct patient care in our Cardiac Specialty Unit. The nurse will use the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care and collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans for patients and families.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced professional knowledge in step-down care and basic knowledge of related fields, applying industry best practices and regulations.

Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues, lead projects, and solve complex problems with innovative solutions.

Impact customer, operational, project, or service activities, working independently with minimal guidance.

Explain difficult information and build consensus among stakeholders.

Oversee patient care team and coordinate care plans.

Ensure patient care meets safety, effectiveness, and patient rights standards.

Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care using nursing skills and evidence-based guidelines.

Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and team members.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.

Advocate for patients and resolve ethical and clinical concerns.

Accurately document patient encounters and protect patient health information.

Adhere to infection prevention initiatives.

Deliver competent care with emphasis on good customer relations and evidence-based practice.

Continuously evaluate patient condition, collaborate with the healthcare team, and manage environmental and system resources for patients and families.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Preferred: Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor's or Master's degree).

Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license.

Two or more years of recent critical care experience.

Current AHA BLS Certification.

Current AHA ACLS Certification.

CCRN preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Additional languages preferred.

Basic computer knowledge.
