Warehouse/Forklift Material Handler (1st Shift)

Aerotek is seeking: Forklift Operator and Material Handler
This role supports the design and manufacture of specialized power distribution equipment, industrial electrical cables, and generator docking stations for backup and temporary power systems by safely operating forklifts and handling materials to ensure accurate inventory flow and efficient warehouse operations.
Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts and tuggers approximately 50% of the time to move materials and products throughout the facility.
Use RF scanners to accurately scan, track, and update inventory movements and locations.
Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently while following safe lifting practices.
Put away parts and components into designated storage locations, ensuring proper organization and labeling.
Pull parts and materials for kitting to support production and assembly requirements.
Assist with racking activities, including organizing and storing materials on racks and shelves.
Support general material handling tasks, including inventory handling and shipping and receiving activities as needed.
Work collaboratively with warehouse and manufacturing teams to meet daily operational goals and timelines.
Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines, including proper use of forklifts, tuggers, and related material handling equipment.
At least 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Ability to safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts and tuggers for approximately half of the workday.
Hands-on experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and material movement.
Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing facility.
Experience with propane-powered forklifts.
Experience with electric forklifts.
Ability to perform material handling tasks such as inventory management, kitting, and shipping and receiving.
Attention to detail and accuracy when scanning, storing, and pulling parts.
Experience with both sit-down and stand-up forklifts is a plus.
Tugger operation experience is a plus.
Experience using cherry pickers is beneficial.
Familiarity with non-climate-controlled warehouse or manufacturing environments.
Ability to balance time between forklift operation and other material handling tasks.
Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and warehouse staff.
Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and meeting shift schedule requirements.

This position is based in a warehouse or manufacturing facility with non-climate-controlled conditions, where temperatures may vary with the seasons. The role follows structured daytime shifts, including a 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. schedule, with minimal overtime and a typical workweek of approximately 40-45 hours. You will work around industrial power distribution equipment, cables, and related materials, using forklifts (sit-down and stand-up), tuggers, RF scanners, and other material handling tools. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the safety-focused dress code, and the environment emphasizes safe equipment operation, housekeeping, and collaboration with warehouse and manufacturing teams.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
