Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to the healthcare of patients by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on the needs of the department. Position Highlights:Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to the healthcare of patients by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on the needs of the department, including ensuring the comfort of our patients.Responsibilities:Assists patients with ambulation and/or movement on/off exam table, chairs and/or in and out of wheelchairs utilizing proper body mechanics and safety measures such as, lift equipment.Documents collected data completely and accurately in medical record including staff notifications. Ensures clinic patient flow is smooth and efficient. Assists practitioner in patient procedures/treatments/examinations, including room preparation, patient positioning, supplies, and equipment. Departs from clinic those patients that do not require nursing intervention. Maintains the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care or services based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Provides support to the provider during clinic by assisting with phone calls and faxes.Recognizes emergency situations and implements emergency procedures. Administers first aid and CPR.Credentials and Qualifications (per Medical Assistant level):Moffitt accepted certifications listed below.Medical Assistant Trainee:High school diploma or GED, required.Completion of Medical Assistant ProgramCMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.Clinical Assistant:High school diploma or GED, required.1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting or equivalent roleCMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.Certified Medical Assistant:High school diploma or GED, required.Certified Medical Assistant II:High school diploma or GED, required.2 years of Medical Assistant experience, required.Moffitt Accepted Certifications/Registrations:American Association of Medical Assistants (AMAA)American Medical Technologists (AMT)National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) - Nationally Certified Medical AssistantNational Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant ("CCMA")National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) – Nationally Registered Certified Medical AssistantMoffitt Accepted Basic Life Support certifications:American Heart AssociationAmerican Red CrossAmerican Safety & Health InstituteSalary Range$20.14 - $30.70Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role.
