Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead and perform engineering evaluations, analyses, field inspections, design drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Lead mechanical engineering analyses for existing and new building mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, applying current codes, standards, and technologies to develop safe, efficient, and optimized designs.
Manage the mechanical scope of projects from initial design through construction, ensuring quality, schedule, and client expectations are met.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineering staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support in their professional development.
Requirements

Strong knowledge of New York State Mechanical, Energy, and Plumbing Codes, as well as NFPA standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
Experience, Education, and Certification

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of post-college engineering experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in chilled and hot water systems, building HVAC systems, controls, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
• Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for schools, healthcare facilities, and municipal facilities is preferred.

Professional office environment with opportunities for collaboration across disciplines.
Travel to project sites throughout New York State may be required approximately 10% of the time.
Physical Demands

Ability to work for extended periods at a computer.
Ability to travel to project sites throughout New York State as needed.
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
