38 Bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day with various acuities

We are a primary Stroke and STEMI receiving facility that can intervene and administer thrombolytics

Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization

Behavioral Health Pod

Staff includes Charge Nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work closely with ED Providers to provide exceptional care

The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician, is responsible for facilitating age‑appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of health care services and tasks. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and oversight of unlicensed personnel.

Also knowledgeable about venous blood sampling and cardiac monitor use.

Working knowledge of body systems, including neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and primary and secondary trauma assessment.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; Start IVs, IOs, and draw blood.

May be required to monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately to Charge Nurse and Nurse.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) - required.

Work Experience

1 year of experience as a Paramedic - preferred.

Paramedics new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date.

LP - Licensed Paramedic; current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry preferred.
