The Department of Corrections, Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 3 at the Palmer Correctional Center (PCC) and Mat-Su Pretrial (MSPT) in Palmer, Alaska.

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff to ensure quality and compliance with established policies and procedures.

In this role, you will oversee the nursing teams at Palmer Correctional Center (PCC) and Mat-Su Pretrial (MSPT), providing comprehensive nursing care and professional guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality inmate health services. You will serve in a leadership capacity to plan, organize, and evaluate health operations and electronic health record systems in compliance with institutional policies, regulatory standards, and legal requirements.

Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
Two years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, one of which must have been at the full-performance/journey level. Examples of this latter experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Corrections Nurse 2, Psychiatric Nurse 2, or Nurse 2 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
