A Special Education (Exceptional Children) Teacher with Charleston County School District (CCSD) is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Develop and implement IEP goals and specially designed instruction (SDI) for students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to plan, deliver, and assess instruction in inclusive classroom settings.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain required compliance records.
- Use data-driven decision-making to adjust instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Support students across a continuum of services, including inclusion, resource, self-contained, behavioral support, autism, and low-incidence disability programs depending on assignment.
Hold or be eligible for a valid South Carolina teaching certificate in Special Education.
- Demonstrate knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes.
- Commitment to inclusive education and equity.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and progress-monitoring skills.
