Location: Indianapolis | Program: ACE | Wage: $30.80/hr | Hours: 24/week | Minimum Age: 55

Overview

Non-federal position offered through a partnership agreement. Provides direct support to farmers and landowners to implement conservation practices on the ground.

Employment

This role is funded by an agreement between NRCS and NEW Solutions.

Eligible for applicants who are legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

Minimum 15 years experience in Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Resources, Biology, or related field OR BA/BS degree in Forestry.

Experience in forestry, conservation planning, project implementation.

Proficiency with Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

Provide statewide field work and forestry technical assistance, including conservation planning, guidance to clients, and implementation of farm bill programs such as EQIP/CSP.

Perform forest practice checkouts, oversee technical review of conservation practice specifications on forest land.

Coordinate with NRCS staff and State Forester, maintain close communication and coordination across the state.

Travel and Physical Requirements

Travel within Indiana for landowner site visits, USDA office visits, and use of POV, governed by training and availability.

Physical fitness required; work may involve ticks, mosquitos, unlevel footing, and weather.

Required safety gear: proper footwear and outerwear for forestry work.
