RN II - Emergency Department

Providing nursing care, including triage, treatment, and discharge care for patients in the emergency department. Care provided spans from newborns to geriatrics. Provides medication side effect education to all patients receiving medication and incorporates this teaching into discharge instructions. Recognizes cardiac or respiratory distress symptoms and other impending emergencies consistently. Implements appropriate nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient scenarios. Is competent in routine nursing skills including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of critical care medical equipment. Understands and follows the chain of command according to policy. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care during life-threatening emergencies across all served populations. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and applications, with the ability to recommend best monitoring based on patient presentations. Exhibits appropriate knowledge and skill in providing care during Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Facilitates safe and timely coordination and collaboration with inpatient units during patient admissions. Committed to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients, requiring all associates to receive all necessary vaccinations as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Experience in emergency nursing, BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and trauma nursing core course compliance required.
