Description
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist in managing procurement and delivery of raw materials, packaging, and supplies for manufacturing locations.
Negotiate and resolve day-to-day issues (rush shipment requirements, service delays, invoicing errors, quality claims, etc.)
Coordinate with Production Manager the planning of inventory control parameters for assigned products.
Maintain accurate pricing within ERP system (Sage).
Assist Quality Assurance with Vendor evaluations and documentations such as specification updates, vendor product qualifications, and BRC requirements.
Manage specific resources such as supplies and some equipment for Admin office, materials for Sales and Marketing, Co-pack material needs, artwork and film design related to Consumer packaging.
Initiate purchase orders and amendments as required.
Follow-up with manufacturing facilities for plant trials of new / revised materials, and to coordinate timely conclusion of the trials.
Strive for continuous improvement of cost savings opportunities.
Manage the procurement process for new fixed asset purchases, including obtaining quotes, approvals, and coordinating delivery.
Track fixed asset purchases by project, against budget and notify management of deviations or delays.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure fixed asset data is properly reflected in the financial statements (WIP, In-Service Dates).
Prepare and document fixed asset purchases, orders and payments for year-end reporting.
Participate in scheduling meetings with up-to-date information on orders and expected delivery dates.
Prepare monthly reports detailing the consumption and usage of materials.
Travel Requirements
Travel may be required. Some overnight travel by road or air, may be necessary, but limited.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related degree, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years purchasing experience). Strong experience in managing activities in purchasing departments. Experience in chemical purchasing or related field is preferred.
Computer Skills To perform this job to a valued degree of success, an individual should have strong knowledge with QuickBooks. The individual will also need a working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.

Read, analyze, and interpret general business information from reports, spreadsheets, periodicals, professional journals, etc.
Write reports and general business correspondence.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and co-workers.
Language Skills
Ability to read, listen, and speak English is required. Proficiency in French is valued. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from associates and colleagues.
Mathematical Skills
Have the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as algebra, arithmetic, and statistics. Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Have the ability to calculate currency amounts such as percent discounts and interest.
Reasoning Ability
Have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Have the ability to deal with problems, define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to normal hazards consistent with an office and production setting. Typical lighting and temperature variation consistent with an office setting and variations throughout the production areas. Working with office equipment daily. The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet with increased noise levels in the production areas.
