Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Mechanical Engineer II provides electrical and mechanical engineering support for the commercialization, application, and customization of all Starline products. Works under moderate supervision with limited problem-solving responsibility while working under defined guidelines.
Conceptualize and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) / Testing (DFT) / Assembly (DFA) and Full Turnkey solutions.
Support the engineering team tasked with the commercialization and launch of Starline-designed products.
Perform engineering design tasks and provide feedback in support of customer-specific customizations of Starline products.
Create technical documentation such as drawings, design instructions, purchasing specifications, O&M Manuals, installation instructions, work instructions, and product catalogs.
Conduct required testing, verify product performance, system integration, and compliance with applicable standards.
Partner with Production, Quality, and Purchasing staff to assure that products are manufacturable.
Help support improvements to Starline’s engineering information systems to ensure high-quality engineering information is provided to Production and other customers of this information.
Provide guidance to drafters to support project goals.
Collaborate with certification laboratories such as VDE, as well as various international agencies. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the engineering field.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10%.
Experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or VAULT.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer satisfaction, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of project management processes and principles.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas where, in certain situations, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
