Police Officers - Full-time and Part-time

Part‑time University of Minnesota Police Officers
The University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) is hiring part‑time police officers to provide police services at Gopher football games and other large‑scale special events. Game‑day operations are based out of a Command Center in Huntington Bank Stadium staffed by UMPD command staff, a dispatcher, athletics, facilities and emergency management personnel. Officers from other jurisdictions will be under UMPD command and licensed as University of Minnesota peace officers via the P.Provide police services at Gopher football games and other large‑scale special events.

officers should bring a radio from their full‑time department if possible, otherwise one will be issued.

Wear UMPD uniform shirts, turtleneck, jacket, earpiece, and stocking cap; officers must provide and wear all other uniform equipment and apparel not supplied by UMPD.

Adhere to UMPD Use of Force, Detention Facility, Custodial Search and Personal Appearance policies.

Full‑time licensed and employed by a primary Minnesota law‑enforcement agency.

Must provide valid records of firearms certification, defensive tactics, and First Responder/EMT certification if applicable, and maintain a UMPD training file.

Must acknowledge UMPD policies as outlined in the responsibilities section.

Part‑time officers are not paid into the PERA system, do not accrue vacation, sick, or compensatory time, and are not eligible for union benefits. Applications must be submitted online. Additional documents may be uploaded later via "My Cover Letters and Attachments".
