The Berlin Steel Construction Company is a full-service specialty contractor, primarily with structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We design, fabricate, and erect structures in the Northeast and in other parts of the country. We have 2 fabrication facilities, 4 erection operations facilities, and 6 office locations that provide engineering and management of projects. We service the private commercial, public, institutional, and industrial markets.

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Estimator with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial construction to join our team in the Glen Burnie, MD office and support our operations in structural steel and miscellaneous metals. As part of our Estimating team, you will contribute to process improvements that support standardization, efficiency, and profitability across the organization.

Evaluate all bid instructions and documents, noting deviations from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Code of Standard Practice and any special requirements affecting cost or operations.

Visit proposed sites as necessary to assess logistics and identify potential challenges to be addressed in bid clarifications or qualifications.

Solicit pricing and delivery commitments from preferred vendors for all products not produced in-house; obtain and review vendor/subcontractor quotes for clarifications and exclusions.

Prepare a complete takeoff of materials, applying labor hours and other costs to produce a full estimate and equipment plan.

Assemble all required paperwork for the bid, including forms, unit pricing, bid bonds, and insurance calculations

Upon project award, follow company start-up procedures and ensure a thorough handoff to the assigned Project Manager.

Serve as a reference to the Project Manager throughout the duration of the project.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial construction.

Associate's degree in construction related field or accounting/finance with courses in engineering OR minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Teams).
