Staff Architect - REMOTE
Virtual Vocations Inc
Owning the architecture and long-term roadmap for Snowflake, the full-time Staff Snowflake Architect will optimize data infrastructure, enhance performance, and ensure governance while collaborating with analytics engineers and data scientists in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
Define Snowflake architecture and its integration with Databricks and other data stores while evaluating new features and cost-optimization tools
Analyze query execution plans and guide engineering teams on efficient schema and query design to improve performance
Implement automation for cost controls and build dashboards for proactive monitoring of performance and costs
Required qualifications
8+ years in data engineering or warehousing with 5+ years managing large-scale Snowflake environments
Proven success in reducing query runtimes and data warehouse spend through optimization strategies
Expert-level SQL skills and proficiency in Python, Terraform, or similar for automation and monitoring
Strong background in metadata tagging and role-based access control for governance and cost attribution
Familiarity with Snowflake integrations in cloud environments and tools such as Databricks and Airflow
