As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our patients as you will be playing an essential role in helping them receive the care they need. Patient transporters quickly become familiar with all areas of the hospital while leaving lasting impressions on our patients and visitors. This role is a great way for caregivers to get their foot in the door and gain exposure to various different departments.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 11:30AM – 8:00PM or 4:00pm—8:00pm, including every other weekend and holiday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
Transport patients during discharge to the hospital lobby.
Communicate to nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception regarding patient's arrival and departure.
Verify and confirm standard precautions and correct patient identification by comparing information from the pager and patient wristband to obtain the correct medical chart and verify proper mode of transportation.
Disinfect and maintain equipment.
Perform environmental and safety checks, identify malfunctioning equipment, document findings and report malfunctioning equipment.
Move and deliver equipment and linen carts.
Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Organizational, decisive judgment, problem solving, communications, good customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
After selection and placement, 3 months on-the-job training and orientation to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures and patient emergency and safety procedures, proper body mechanics necessary to safely move patient
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

~ High School Diploma or GED

Personal Protective Equipment:

~ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
