The Cultural Ambassador II provide a variety of customer services, including support, interpretation, and translation, while acting as a cultural broker to help create a remarkable patient experience for non-English-speaking patients, family members, and visitors.

High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a foreign language (Spanish) medical interpreter and translations in a healthcare role. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI).

Proficient in the use of computer software, including the Microsoft Office suite or similar. Provide face-to-face medical interpretation primarily for patients, family members, and visitors.

Provide telephone interpretation services, as needed

Assist with document translation, including providing medical document translations for UVA Community Health facilities, as needed.

Quality & Process Improvement:

Participate in community engagement events, as needed.

Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. It may be amended at any time at the sole discretion of UVA Community Health.

The base compensation range for this role is $19.10 - $31.64 hourly.

Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
